"New York - Berlin"

(RealAudio File, 1:35 min)

In the hope of accounting for their own lives in a changing city, 10 people decide in May 1998 to turn their lives in Berlin into fiction for 14 days.

They play "killer", a game in which no one knows the others and each is both, perpetrator and victim. Their mission is to trace out an assigned, but previously unknown person and conceive the perfect murder for their victim.

In the knowledge that at the same time someone else is following one´s own trail, the players set out to search for the unknown persons. They cast a net across the city: the paths taken, places visited and encounters draw a subjective sketch of present day life in Berlin during the interim.

Out of documented and redirected material a film is built in which the story was written on its own:
- a contemporary document / a photograph
- actually there are a lot of small films within the film
- and also many viewpoints
- it is about solitude
- about curiosity, love, voyeurism
- and especially again and again about the search:
- for traces of one's own life
- in this city
- in the reflection of an unknown person, who could be an alter ego
